Moorcroft is an English company that has been designing and handcrafting their beautiful pottery since 1897. We carry current designs made within the last ten years.

Every year the Moorcroft design team creates new designs, and at the end of each year most of that year's designs are discontinued. This makes Moorcroft pottery always new, creative, and exciting. Producing only limited editions makes their pottery valuable and collectable.

The following are some of the pieces currently available in the gallery. Please call or email us for prices.

If we do not have the piece you are looking for, let us know and we will check on its availability and special order it for you at no extra cost.

A note on the numbers following the design name: first number is the pottery shape / second number is the height in inches

A Note on Technique

The method of production originated by William Moorcroft in 1897 is almost exactly the same today. Most pieces are still turned on the lathe to perfect the shape. The designs are applied by  tubelining or sliptrailing, a process by which the raised line is squeezed onto the pot in the form of a fine extrusion of liquified clay or slip. This slip is squeezed through a glass tube from a bag held in the hand.

The colors are based on metallic oxides. These colors are applied entirely by hand, one color being gently washed over another to enable them to blend at high temperatures. Each pot is fired twice. The second firing happens after a transparent glaze has been applied. It is this second firing which produces the brilliance of color that has become the unique hallmark of Moorcroft Pottery.
